Mental Health and Substance Use Care for Boys
Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services in Clovis treats boys and girls aged 12 – 17 experiencing substance use and mental health conditions. While we treat both boys and girls separately, this particular campus treats only 6 teen boys. The Muir Wood Boys Program provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for boys experiencing a range of behavioral healthcare issues, including substance use disorders, anxiety, OCD, depression, mood disorders, and suicidality. Programming is gender-responsive and trauma-informed to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where teen boys can feel open and comfortable engaging in treatment and focusing on their care without distractions. Our boys campuses are beautiful, home-like settings in Sonoma County, California, where clients enjoy camaraderie, benefit from intensive integrated therapy, and enjoy recreation and experiential therapy activities.
Personalized Care with a Holistic Approach
Muir Wood provides comprehensive, integrated behavioral healthcare. Highly tailored individualized treatment plans are informed by in-depth assessment and testing and include psychiatry, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, experiential and recreational therapy, and academic programming. The Muir Wood treatment approach keeps boys highly engaged in treatment through a varied and intensive daily schedule that balances clinical therapies and medical care with relaxation, reflection, and leisure time. The program also includes a robust family program that invites parents, guardians, and other identified family members to receive education, learn to support their loved one’s recovery, and find community and professional support. Muir Wood also emphasizes the positive connection between mental and physical health. Clients build strength, learn the benefits of regular exercise, and have fun with peers through supervised physical fitness, basketball, soccer, tag football, volleyball, hikes in the nearby countryside, and more. Clients enjoy delicious and nutritious chef-prepared meals and snacks throughout the day.
