Adolescent Residential Treatment
Millcreek of Magee is a leading source of behavioral healthcare and educational services for children and adolescents. At our main campus in Magee, Mississippi, we deliver a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) program for youths ages 6-21. In our premier residential program, we serve young people who have behavioral health concerns like the following: major depression, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychotic disorders, and the effects of trauma. Although each young person who participates in our program must have a primary diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder, we are also able to serve those who have secondary substance use concerns. A typical day in our residential program involves waking up and attending to personal care, eating breakfast, cleaning one’s room, participating in a community meeting and room check, and then starting the day’s programming. Programming generally consists of school, group therapy, and recreational therapy, followed by homework, showering, leisure time, quiet time, and bed. Treatment Approach
At our psychiatric residential treatment facility, we aim to meet each child or adolescent where they are on their healing journey. From there, we work to create personalized supports that can enhance the young person’s sense of trust and security, allowing them to begin to thrive and progress toward a healthier and more productive life. We take a nurturing and caring approach to treatment, providing services through an individualized treatment plan that is based on strengths and positive reinforcements. Treatment in our residential program is an intensive experience that usually lasts for about three to six months for each young person. Our program offers medication management services, individual and family therapies, and group therapy, which may cover topics like substance abuse, social skills, social boundaries, and bullying prevention. We can also provide our young patients with creative opportunities for growth through activities like art therapy, music therapy, fitness club, and book club. Additionally, we make sure that each person benefits from high-quality educational programming. Our Treatment Center
Located in Magee, about 42 miles from Jackson, our residential treatment center is a serene and supportive environment. Our 62-acre campus is set in a natural environment, offering our patients a comfortable setting in which to pursue their treatment goals. Our therapeutic environment is also welcoming and accepting of each young person’s strengths and unique life experiences. The young people in our program work with caring experts, such as nurses, psychiatric practitioners, and therapists who have training in cognitive behavioral and trauma-focused therapies. Our admissions staff will review the referral information provided and may request a telephone assessment to better understand the young person’s current needs.
