About Milestones
Milestones provides residential as well as day treatment programs for individuals suffering with Compulsive Overeating, Bulimia, Anorexia, and related disorders. We are a therapeutic community whose mission is to offer a supportive environment from which to begin a new way of life... a life way we refer to as "recovery." Milestones follows a "blended" approach to treatment - addressing both the "addictive" and emotional aspects of an eating disorder. Residents attend a full schedule of group and individual activities during the day as well as participate in various support groups during evenings and weekends. Grocery shopping, meal preparation, and "real world" experiences are an integral part of the program. Unlike a traditional hospital environment, Milestones affords an opportunity to recover in a less restrictive setting while still receiving the support and structure necessary to overcome an eating disorder. Residential Treatment accepts both local and out of area residents, with most of the program's participants coming to us from throughout the United States Located in South Florida, Milestones is near two major airports in the South Florida area. A Little More About Our Program
Milestones programs are intended for adults seeking treatment for an eating disorder. Our facility and program is fully accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and licensed by the respective agencies in the State of Florida to provide residential and outpatient services. As such, we are able to bill all major insurances and managed care organizations with the exception of Medicare and Medicaid. However, as benefits and policies vary from individual to individual, we suggest calling Milestones to determine your specific coverage. Our primary purpose is to provide a comprehensive program to address the specific needs of individuals suffering with an eating disorder and the accompanying mental health issues often associated with an eating disorder / food addiction. Providing a safe, structured, and effective course of treatment, Milestones offers apartment-style residences with 24-hour on-site support in addition to a multi-specialty team of professionals. Milestone's provides transportation to all scheduled activities. Residents participate at local support groups during the evenings and weekends as part of their treatment plan. Philosophy
Built into the program schedule are recreational activities, therapeutic passes, and visitation by invited family and significant others. Although visitors are not permitted to enter residential apartments, arrangements can be made for visits off-site. As noted, residents who do bring their vehicles are permitted to use them with staff approval, and, usually when accompanied by another resident.
