Our Mission

Midwest Counseling & Diagnostic Center is an outpatient mental health group practice with two convenient locations in Chicago's River North neighborhood and in the northern suburb of Northbrook. Composed of exceptional, compassionate and highly-trained therapists, we are dedicated to providing the most current research-backed techniques and treatment.

Our Commitment

With every client, Midwest clinicians bring warmth, humor and integrity to our practice. Working collaboratively with clients and other healthcare providers we offer streamlined care with consistency and follow-through. Committed to empowering each individual, we focus on resilience, strengths, and an ongoing process of growth for both our clients and ourselves.

Our People

Midwest's commitment to treating diverse populations is evidenced by the personal and professional diversity of their clinicians. Midwest Counseling & Diagnostics's Groups

Eating Disorder Recovery Group

Join us as we explore emotions, thinking patterns and behaviors associated with the eating disorder, work toward accepting thoughts and feelings, as well as finding safe and meaningful ways to express them, and learn ways to foster a sense of connection and hope for lasting recovery. Individuals are welcome to join at any time, however, in an effort to create a safe and cohesive environment, we do ask that each individual make a commitment to attend at least 4 weeks. For more information or to join this group please contact Julia Burke, LCSW (312-798-9289? or julia@midwestcounseling.com).

DBT Skills Group

In this 16 week DBT skills group, we learn ways to increase relaxation, acceptance, and focus on the present moment (Mindfulness), tolerate difficult feelings/situations without making things worse (Distress Tolerance), reduce impulsive thinking and behaviors (Middle Path), deal with conflicts effectively and maintain/improve relationships (Interpersonal Effectiveness), and understand/manage difficult or intense emotions (Emotion Regulation). This group will be ongoing, with opportunities to join, as space allows, every eight weeks. This group requires that members are also participating in individual therapy and able to commit to consistent attendance. For more information please contact Rose Metivier, LCPC (312-612-9398 or rose@midwestcounseling.com).
