Mid Island Psychology Associates was founded on the principles that psychological care should be tailored to each individual and address their specific needs as no two people are alike! At Mid Island Psychology Associates, we believe in taking a robust and diverse approach to treatment. The clinicians at Mid Island Psychology Associates bring their compassion and enthusiasm for working with clients along with innovative approaches. Each therapist at Mid Island Psychology Associates has been trained in the Cognitive Behavioral treatment model, as well as some who have been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP) and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). How Level of Treatment is Determined
At Mid Island Psychology Associates, we take a comprehensive approach to treatment, meaning that each treatment plan is tailored to each client's specific needs. For some individuals, their psychological distress may be significantly impacting different aspects of their lives, requiring a more intensive treatment program. At Mid Island Psychology Associates, clients are able to be seen up to 20 hours a week when necessary, with the goal of reducing treatment once symptoms decrease. Typically clients receiving this level of care are seen for at least 1-2 months before treatment is reduced. Some clients may not need this intensive level of treatment and may benefit from weekly or biweekly appointments. All recommendations for treatment will be discussed at the end of the consultation session. Once treatment is completed, we offer booster sessions, aimed a fine-tuning the therapeutic outcome. We also offer in-home sessions for those whose conditions prohibit them from getting to the office, as well as for those whose target behaviors are predominantly in the home.
