MAT is an evidence-based approach to opioid addiction treatment that can support many positive outcomes for patients. These benefits can include increased treatment retention, improved social functioning, reduced use of prescription painkillers and illicit drugs, and decreased transmission of infectious diseases. Combining prescription medication and counseling, MAT offers patients a comprehensive treatment experience. The medications that are available in MAT can ease the challenges of ending opioid use by relieving withdrawal symptoms and reducing opioid cravings. At the same time, these medications may help patients achieve better mental clarity so that they can focus on the recovery process. In our MAT program, this process can include individual and group therapies. These supportive counseling sessions are a key part of MAT at our CTC because they can allow you to address the mental and emotional aspects of opioid addiction recovery.
