Millcreek of Pontotoc, located in Pontotoc, Mississippi, offers residential treatment programs for children, adolescents, and young adults ages 6-21 who have mental health concerns and require a higher level of care than a typical outpatient treatment program can provide. Our residential program consists of three cottages situated on a spacious, 20-acre campus and is designed to address the intensive behavioral and educational needs of young people throughout northern Mississippi. Young people stay in cabins based on their age, gender, and specific needs. Typically, residents spend three to six months in residential treatment and receive schooling in our day treatment program. We believe that every young person deserves a nurturing and supportive environment where they can feel valued and can freely express themselves. To be eligible for residential treatment, youths must have a primary psychiatric diagnosis, have had unsuccessful inpatient or outpatient mental health treatment in the past, and obtain a letter of recommendation from a psychiatrist or another mental health professional within 60 days of admission.

These group homes are separated by gender and provide a structured and supportive setting for young people who need professional supervision or a safe place to live due to challenging life circumstances. At our group homes, our main goal is to encourage independent living skills and support our students in their day-to-day lives. Each group home offers 24/7 supervision, trained staff members, therapies, and individualized treatment plans. Compared with an outpatient or therapeutic day program, the intensive programming found in our group homes offers a more immersive and comprehensive approach to meet the needs of our students. The purpose of each group home is to create a safe and compassionate environment that promotes personal growth and well-being.

Essential Touchstones, LLC, is an organization that provides Intensive Outpatient Treatment services to adolescents (ages 13 to 18) and adults (18 and older) who meet the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for a mental illness or a substance use disorder. As part of our comprehensive services, we deliver a therapeutic group home program for adolescent males who have a range of behavioral health disorders. This program provides young people with a supportive residence and a personalized treatment plan that includes various therapies and services that are designed to promote their success. The typical length of stay in one of our therapeutic group homes is about one year. During this time, a young person may take part in medication management services with our psychiatric practitioners and nursing staff. They may also participate in individual, family, and group therapy sessions with our master’s-level therapists. Group therapy topics in our group home program can include social skills, dealing with family, safety, following rules, hygiene, healthy eating, and other subjects that may be helpful for participants. Young people in our therapeutic group homes also receive quality educational programming to help them achieve their academic goals.

At our main campus in Magee, Mississippi, we deliver a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) program for youths ages 6-21. In our premier residential program, we serve young people who have behavioral health concerns like the following: major depression, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychotic disorders, and the effects of trauma. Although each young person who participates in our program must have a primary diagnosis of a psychiatric disorder, we are also able to serve those who have secondary substance use concerns. A typical day in our residential program involves waking up and attending to personal care, eating breakfast, cleaning one’s room, participating in a community meeting and room check, and then starting the day’s programming. Programming generally consists of school, group therapy, and recreational therapy, followed by homework, showering, leisure time, quiet time, and bed.
