About

Adult Residential Treatment

The right therapeutic environment can make all the difference when it comes to finding recovery from an eating disorder. For some people, that might involve living at a treatment facility temporarily so that they can step away from life’s daily stressors and focus fully on their recovery. At McCallum Place, we offer residential treatment for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder. Because live-in treatment is intended to give people time to build a strong foundation in early recovery, most people stay with us for about 30 days. They usually spend that time taking part in daily group therapy, with the topics covered in each session tailored to their specific needs. Depending on a person’s individual goals, their treatment may also include medical care, medication management, individual counseling, family therapy, and various experiential therapies like yoga, art therapy, and music therapy. We also offer a specialized inpatient track for athletes through The Victory Program.

Adolescent Residential Treatment

Although eating disorders can affect people at any age, these conditions impact adolescents differently than they do adults. Kids are confronted with messages about body image starting at a young age, including overhearing adults talk about their bodies in negative ways, seeing perfect celebrity bodies on TV, and encountering messaging about diet culture on social media. If a child doesn’t receive appropriate support, their struggles with an eating disorder can have a devastating impact on their life. McCallum Place offers residential treatment for kids age 10 and older who are struggling with eating disorders. We recognize that leaving home to take part in treatment can be overwhelming, so we have made our environment as welcoming as possible. To ensure that each child sets the groundwork for lasting recovery, we use therapeutic techniques that are designed specifically for this age group. During therapy, we address concerns that are relevant to adolescents and work with young people in ways that are most likely to help them reach their goals.

Our Treatment Center

McCallum Place is located in the St. Louis, Missouri, suburbs near places that allow the people who seek care with us to practice important recovery skills, including local restaurants, grocery stores, and area attractions. Adults stay in our main facility in downtown Webster Grove, where they can enjoy a comfortable setting that features group therapy rooms, art rooms, common areas, dining areas, and a fully functioning gym. Adolescents stay in the Kirkwood House, which is located in a quiet residential neighborhood minutes away from our main campus. Each facility is staffed by experts including a medical team, a counseling team, and registered dietitians. These professionals are passionate about helping others heal from the effects of eating disorders, and they make sure that everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome. With our support, the people who turn to us in their time of need can find lasting recovery.
