Located in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Southcoast Behavioral Health offers comprehensive inpatient psychiatric treatment services for adults who are dealing with a number of different concerns, including the following: adjustment disorder, aggression, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, homicidal ideation, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychosis, self-harming behaviors, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and suicidal ideation. Treatment at Southcoast's 144-bed hospital is provided by multidisciplinary teams that include licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), board-certified psychiatrists, recreational therapists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and mental health technicians. The typical length of stay at Southcoast Behavioral Health is five to seven days.

Medication-assisted treatment, which is commonly referred to as MAT, is a dynamic approach to opioid addiction treatment for adults. MAT incorporates prescription medications to help people stop using opioids and therapy to help them build a foundation for lifelong recovery. The medications that are authorized for use in MAT programs in the U.S. have been closely studied for several years, and they have documented histories of safety and effectiveness. These medications can ease the cravings and other distressing symptoms of opioid withdrawal, which can make it easier for people to end their opioid use. However, medication alone cannot address the behavioral, psychological, and social aspects of opioid addiction and recovery. This is why counseling is such an integral part of the MAT experience. During counseling sessions, adults can identify the events and circumstances that may threaten to undermine their recovery. They can also develop skills in important areas such as conflict resolution and stress management. These new capabilities can empower them to respond to difficult situations in a healthier manner without resorting to opioid abuse or other self-defeating behaviors.

We offer didactic and process oriented groups designed to work with adolescents who are struggling with depression and anxiety, self injury and self worth. We offer 5 adolescent groups, including Introduction to DBT, Advanced DBT and Anxiety, Depression and Self Esteem Group as well as Multiple Parent Skills and support Groups. Our group-based practice was founded upon the fundamental belief that adolescents work best in a positive, strength-based approach. We utilize CBT and DBT principles and our clinicians share 50 years of experience working directly with adolescents and parents. Our office is conveniently located at 363 Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington, Massachusetts. All groups are co-lead and provide an 8-week curriculum treating no more than 8 clients in each group. Homework is provided to reinforce learning between sessions and all clients receive a one-to-one intake to evaluate that each client is appropriate for the group sessions.
