About Detroit Behavioral Institute

Since its inception in 2004, Detroit Behavioral Institute has been a provider of specialized programming for youth who are grappling with emotional and behavioral disturbances. With a primary mission to prepare young people for their futures by instilling skills for living a healthy and safe lifestyle, Detroit Behavioral Institute supplies the care needed to help young people truly heal and recover from even the most pressing of mental health concerns. The staff of expertly-trained professionals facilitates treatment with compassion and employs evidence-based therapeutic interventions within each programming option. Various treatment methods are utilized in the treatment offered by Detroit Behavioral Institute so that the most favorable treatment outcomes are the result. These methods foster the learning of new, prosocial skills so each youth who comes to this center for treatment come to realize that a bright and happy future is within tangible reach.

Signs and Symptoms of Depression

There are many telltale signs that can be observed by parents and other loved ones when a young person is battling the symptoms of depression. Youth who are depressed may experience sleep disturbances or sleep more often, refuse to attend school, or display unwarranted emotional outbursts. Academic performance may decline over time and depressed youth may appear more tearful at times. Young people who are grappling with severe depression may even being to develop ideations of suicide, convey that they wish to end their own lives, or engaging in dangerous and life-threatening self-harming behaviors. Furthermore, children and adolescents who experience ongoing depression may also complain about aches and pains that cannot be better explained by a medical condition. What is important to know, however, is that there are viable treatment options in existence that can alleviate the symptoms of depression and any co-occurring mental health condition that could be affecting a youth's life.

Treatment Options at Detroit Behavioral Institute

Detroit Behavioral Institute is pleased to offer superior residential programming for youth struggling with a myriad of concerns. With seven distinct programs available, this center is well-equipped to effectively treat both male and female youth who have a history of being adjudicated and non-adjudicated. Each program implements the latest therapeutic techniques so as to help each youth be successful in overcoming his or her emotional and/or behavioral disturbances. The staff within each program puts forth every effort to make sure that every young person receiving treatment is able to reap the full benefits of the comprehensive care provided. Finally, Detroit Behavioral Institute is proud to include Capstone Academy as part of its programming. This onsite school allows youth to receive treatment while furthering his or her education. The school personnel at Capstone Academy possesses experience in working with youth who are battling mental health concerns and are dedicated to helping these individuals achieve academically. Detroit Behavioral Institute and Capstone Academy equally share the goal of assisting youth in healing and recovering for the betterment of their future.
