What To Expect
The Refuge, A Healing Place is pleased to offer an eating disorder program for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and orthorexia. This stand-alone treatment program in Ocklawaha, Florida, is designed to help clients address the underlying concerns that are affecting their health, well-being, and ability to pursue recovery. At The Refuge, we provide care for a diverse range of clients, including individuals who may not be accepted into other eating disorder programs due to their complex needs. We are proud to serve members of the LGBTQ+ community, pregnant clients, individuals who need detox, people who have special dietary requirements, and those who have co-occurring mental health concerns. Having an untreated eating disorder can negatively impact every area of someone’s life, and we are committed to helping our clients find lasting healing. Treatment Approach
At The Refuge, we offer customized treatment to help clients effectively address the challenges that have played a role in their battle with an eating disorder. We strive to help clients regain control of their thoughts and behaviors and support them in pursuing bright and hopeful futures. Throughout their stay at our eating disorder treatment center, clients have the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary treatment team that includes doctors, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, and licensed therapists. These individuals monitor each client’s health and progress and provide focused support during mealtimes. Clients can participate in individual, group, family, and experiential therapies during their stay with us. Group therapy is our primary treatment method at The Refuge. In group sessions, clients can develop relationships with others who are also struggling with eating disorders, learn positive coping skills, and identify strategies for healing from co-occurring conditions. At The Refuge, A Healing Place, we offer an evidence-based treatment program for adults who are struggling with eating disorders. Clients in our eating disorder treatment program reside in The Oak House, spacious accommodations on our 96-acre campus. Our facility offers a pool, beach volleyball, canoes, paddleboards, ropes courses, horseback riding, an art studio, fire pits, and many more amenities. Upon your arrival at our Ocklawaha, Florida, treatment center, you will take part in a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment with a member of our team so that we can gain a deeper understanding of your unique needs and treatment goals. Our team will collaborate with you to craft a personalized care plan that will guide your time with us. We believe in providing clients with a safe and friendly atmosphere that is conducive to healing.
