Leyden DuPage Counseling Services, MSW, LCSW, Treatment Center in Oak Brook

We Are Here to Help

Leyden Dupage Counseling is a muti-disciplinary out-patient group psychotherapy practice that services Chicago and its suburbs in eight locations. At any given time LDCS has 15 to 20 therapists who have master degrees or PHD's in counseling, psychology, clinical social work or family therapy. The diversity of training and experience allows our clinicians to treat individuals, couples, families, children and adolescents with a broad array of psychological disorders and family issues (problems). Patients are assigned to a therapist who specializes in their problem area at a location closest to their home or work. Referrals come to LDCS from community agencies, hospitals, schools, churches, physicians, and insurance companies with which we have PPO and HMO contracts.

Our Approach

LDCS works from a recovery model as opposed to one that focuses on short term crisis intervention. Whether a patient comes to us post-hospitalization or directly as an out-patient most often they are in crisis. Our goal is to work through the crisis with the patient to restore and enhance each individuals, couples or family's life experience. Relationships are viewed as the most important aspects of a persons well being and happiness, As such, counseling is seen as occurring over time through a long term, therapeutic relationship where a client may work on different psychological issues at intervals or maintain periodic visits for maintenance . Counseling sessions focus on the present, with reflection on the past where relevant, so that emotions, behavior, and thinking are connecting to new life strategies and understanding. There is an emphasis on internalizing these strategies and understanding in practical ways so that changes are lasting. Treatment is viewed holistically between mind, body, spirit, life circumstance, and significant relationships with a collaborative team approach between the therapist and collateral community resources such as the patients physician.
