Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Located in Lakeland, Florida, Lakeland Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older. MAT combines the use of medication and counseling to treat patients who are struggling with opioid use disorder, which is the clinical term for opioid addiction. Research has shown that the prescribed medications used in MAT, which at our center include Suboxone, methadone, and buprenorphine, help patients manage the uncomfortable physical symptoms of withdrawal. Along with medication, MAT features counseling that can help patients address any factors that may have contributed to their drug use and develop strategies to avoid opioid use in the future. During these sessions, patients can learn how to manage negative emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and unpack previous trauma. Studies show that MAT participants are less likely to use illicit drugs again and more likely to remain in treatment longer, which helps them resist future relapse. What to Expect
We understand the significance attached to the decision to pursue opioid addiction treatment. That’s why we offer a streamlined admissions process that is designed to get you into treatment in a timely manner. First, though, we need to gain an understanding of your medical history, current and past drug use, and goals for treatment. We accomplish this by administering a comprehensive assessment, which lays the groundwork for your personalized treatment plan. This plan may include a prescription for Suboxone, buprenorphine, or methadone. Regardless of which medication we determine is best for you, we will monitor your progress and adjust the type and dosage as necessary. Your plan may also include individual and group therapy sessions. In individual counseling, you’ll work one-on-one with one of our master’s-level clinicians to better understand the choices that may have led to your opioid use. In group sessions, you’ll discuss topics such as relapse prevention and coping skills and hear from others who are on the road to recovery. At the conclusion of treatment, we’ll provide you with a detailed discharge plan that can help you build on your progress. Our Comprehensive Treatment Center
