K& I Healthcare Services was founded in 2019 as the brainchild of Ike Obiora and Kelvinda Kamara, psychiatric nurse practitioners who recognized that the mental health care system was broken during their work in Baltimore, Maryland. As their frustration grew with the prevalence of untreated mental illness among traditionally underserved populations, they decided to start a mental health organization that viewed the underlying social, emotional, and medical determinants of patient behavior as major drivers of the treatment planning and service delivery processes Our organization’s primary objective is to become a leading provider of innovative, holistic, and evidence-based behavioral health services targeting traditionally underserved populations in the DMV. Headquartered in Waldorf, Maryland, we also have Landover and Baltimore, Maryland offices. Our continuum of care affords patients a wide range of support services, which include comprehensive assessment and ongoing medication management by our experienced team of psychiatric nurse practitioners, a spectrum of psychotherapies that meet the needs of everyone from those with chronic mental illness to persons managing daily life stressors, trauma-informed individual therapy, psychiatric rehabilitation services, supportive employment services, and substance abuse counseling and referral.
Our integrative approach to behavioral health motivates us to assess the whole person first with the goal of linking identified psychosocial needs to appropriate program components. To maximize client access to our services, individuals can receive services virtually or in person. We currently accept persons with Medicaid, Medicare, or Care First BlueCross, Aetna, and JHH insurance and are excited to serve you.
