IOP Services
IOP Services provides “intensive outpatient” therapy for adults who would benefit from more than just "normal therapy" (i.e., meeting for an hour every week or two with your therapist) but do not need complete hospitalization or residential treatment. IOP Services provides nine hours of group therapy per week to each client in addition to targeted individual support. From an IOP, you can "step up" into a residential program if you need more support or "step down" into less intensive forms of therapy when you're feeling better. You decide what works best for you. Whereas most IOPs primarily treat substance use, IOP Services is a mental health IOP, supporting persons who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and challenging life transitions. IOP is for persons who have tried individual therapy but are not seeing results or who need something more to get through a particularly difficult stretch in life. The best practice is to continue with your individual therapist and or psychiatrist (if you have one) while in IOP - both individual therapy and group therapy have advantages and we all collaborate to provide the best overall support.
The average length of stay at IOP Services is between 8 and 12 weeks but you may remain for as short or long as it takes to meet your personal goals.
