Adult IOP
Options Behavioral Health in Indianapolis, Indiana, provides an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults ages 18-65 who are suffering from mental health conditions such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder, depression, and co-occurring substance use concerns. Our IOP is ideal for individuals who have completed a higher level of care, like an inpatient treatment program, but can benefit from continued support. Adults who participate in the IOP at our hospital receive three hours of treatment, three days a week. Patients typically take part in our IOP for four to six weeks, but each person’s needs, progress, and goals determine their actual length of stay. Each adult in our IOP receives a personalized care plan that guides them through treatment. Patients participate in a variety of group therapies during each treatment day that cover topics relevant to adults, such as stress management techniques, relapse prevention strategies, self-care, forming healthy relationships, and psychoeducation. At Options Behavioral Health, we understand the importance of providing age-appropriate mental health treatment for adolescents. Our intensive outpatient program is designed for young people ages 12-17 who have primary mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use disorders. Adolescents who participate in our IOP receive three hours of treatment, three times a week, for four to six weeks. Patients may enter our IOP directly or transition to this level of care from an inpatient or partial hospitalization program (PHP). We consider each patient's individual needs and strengths as we develop their treatment plan. This plan incorporates a variety of therapeutic methods and group therapy sessions. Adolescents can meet with our psychiatric nurse practitioner throughout treatment and receive family therapy on a case-by-case basis. Group therapy is the main form of treatment in our IOP, and patients take part in sessions each day. Treatment Approach
At Options Behavioral Health, we utilize a variety of evidence-based therapy methods in our outpatient programs. We believe that using a combination of methods is the most effective way to treat mental health concerns. In our IOP for adults, therapists lead group discussions that are informed by integrated combined therapy (ICT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), 12-Step facilitation (TSF) therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and reality therapy. These methods can help adults who are struggling with mental health concerns practice mindfulness, set goals, and learn more about themselves. Therapists follow the Living in Balance curriculum as a framework for exploration and discussion in a group setting for adults who have dual diagnosis concerns. In our IOP for adolescents, licensed mental health counselors incorporate principles of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), DBT, and person-centered therapy.
