Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Hillsborough Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is a clinically excellent provider of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with addictions to opioids such as heroin, fentanyl, and prescription painkillers. MAT is time-tested and considered a first-line form of opioid addiction care by respected organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). At Hillsborough CTC, MAT combines the use of FDA-approved medications with counseling to comprehensively address the physical, emotional, and social aspects of opioid addiction. The medications that are available for patients will vary across different clinics in our CTC network but may include methadone, buprenorphine, Suboxone, Sublocade, and Vivitrol. These medications can alleviate symptoms and cravings that are part of the opioid withdrawal process. Located in Hillsborough, North Carolina, Hillsborough CTC provides premier opioid addiction treatment on an outpatient basis in a safe and supportive environment. The staff members who deliver MAT at our treatment center include doctors, dispensing nurses, and counselors. Before receiving care at our CTC, each patient goes through a thorough admissions process that includes filling out paperwork and completing a physical exam, a drug screening, and a TB test. Based on a person’s background and health, our team prescribes the most appropriate medication for their needs. Our CTC is different from traditional methadone clinics that prescribe medications without offering any other services. We realize that the use of effective medication is crucial for helping our patients go through the opioid withdrawal process. However, we believe that combining the use of medication with participation in individual and group counseling can best help our patients stop using opioids and remain in recovery. Counseling sessions can provide patients with a chance to meet and support their peers as they learn more about relapse prevention, coping strategies, and life skills.
