About

HUGS in Savannah Changes Lives

We are a a faith-based, non-profit organization, making professional behavioral health counseling & addiction recovery services available and affordable to all who desire growth, independence, and emotionally healthy lifestyles. Andrea Mamalakis Epting, HUGS’ founder and Managing Director, understands the critical need to provide counseling for those who are under-insured or lacking the financial means to pay the high cost of services. We have over 30 counselors on staff committed to addressing the behavioral health and addiction recovery concerns of adolescents, adults & seniors. Our clinical staff has experience treating depression, anxiety, grief, loss, trauma, PTSD, addictions, mental health disorders, dual diagnosis, LGBTQ concerns, dependency, & toxic relationships. We proudly serve the military, veterans & their families by addressing a variety of concerns related to transitioning to civilian life, finding support networks, dealing with addictions, and coping with trauma.

Couples & Families

Couples and/or Family Counseling can address a variety of domestic-related concerns and dysfunctional behaviors: parenting issues, expectations, betrayal, emotional abuse, grief & loss, communication, separation & divorce, enabling, domestic violence, sexual dysfunction, addicted family systems, chronic health problems, and caregiver support.

Motivated 4 Change

Our “Motivated-4-Change Program” is designed to address social and emotional barriers contributing to joblessness, financial dependence, and recidivism. Clients who cannot afford to pay the discounted fees for counseling may apply for the Motivated-4 -Change Program and do volunteer work for the HUGS’ organization or participate in HUGS’ Creative Space Workshop in exchange for their therapeutic services. Referrals are made by HUGS’ Counselors upon an individual’s completion of initial session/needs application, skills evaluation, and interest inventory. A fund is established to scholarship motivated individuals who are accepted into this program.
