Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program
At Glenwood Behavioral Health Hospital, our continuum of care includes an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adolescents ages 13-17 who are suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, hallucinations, mood swings, self-harm, suicidal/homicidal ideation, and other concerns. Patients may enter the IOP directly or after completing a higher level of care, such as inpatient treatment. Program duration is determined on a case-by-case basis, with the average stay lasting from four to six weeks. Patients attend treatment Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week for three hours a day. The flexible schedule of our IOP allows patients to continue attending school and participating in other daily living activities while also receiving the focused care they need. For those who are unable to take part in in-person treatment or can benefit from virtual services, we offer telehealth options. In both settings, patients engage in care that is tailored to meet their unique needs. With our help, your child can learn to manage their symptoms and embark on a path to lasting wellness. Treatment Approach
Our team takes a person-centered approach to care, meeting each adolescent where they are on their journey to healing. We achieve this by conducting an in-depth assessment for every potential patient. This evaluation helps our team learn more about the individual’s health history and treatment goals. Then, we provide them with care that can optimally support their needs. In the adolescent IOP, we primarily utilize group sessions that incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is a type of talk therapy that can help people change unhealthy thought or behavior patterns. During group therapy sessions, our trained counselors and licensed therapists strive to help patients improve their self-esteem, coping skills, and ability to set healthy boundaries. We also offer individual and family therapy as well as medical care and medication management services. At the end of treatment, each patient receives a detailed aftercare plan that includes follow-up services that can provide them with ongoing support. Continuing care plans may include referrals to community services and local resources based on the individual needs of the patient. Our Treatment Center
