Few challenges that families face today, can be as heart breaking as sexual abuse within a family.
STAR Guides is an outdoor therapeutic program designed for youth and young adults who are struggling with problematic sexual behavior. STAR Guides provides families with navigation through these challenges. Regardless of past behaviors, we believe that all youth can learn to achieve healthy sexuality. Research suggests that for many, sexual problematic behavior first begins during the adolescent years. STAR Guides helps youth to deal with these problems while they are still young. Many youth in today's modern world find themselves lost and in need of direction as they attempt to navigate the thick darkness that accompanies sexual behavior problems. Just as the ancient peoples of the world, they are in need of STAR Guides. Based in beautiful St. George, Utah the program provides teens and young adults with a high impact, life-changing therapeutic wilderness experience in the heart of the majestic red rock of the high desert of Southern Utah. STAR Guides is the ideal intervention for individuals needing to learn to manage problematic sexual behaviors that they have been unable to manage previously.

Eating Disorder Treatment | The Refuge
Treatment Center, LMHC, LCSW, CSAT, CAP, MD
Anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, orthorexia, and other forms of disordered eating are serious illnesses that can have devastating outcomes. When eating disorders are accompanied by other mental health concerns, the challenge can become significantly more complex. Unfortunately, many people who struggle with eating disorders are also living with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other effects of untreated trauma. In clinical terms, trauma refers to the psychological impact of life-threatening events, such as physical attacks, sexual assault , emotional abuse, military combat, acts of terrorism, automobile accidents, or natural disasters. Without proper care, people who are struggling with PTSD or other forms of untreated trauma may engage in a variety of self-defeating behaviors, including disordered eating, in an attempt to cope with or distance themselves from their emotional pain. The good news about this sad reality is that eating disorders, PTSD, and trauma are treatable. When a person who is living with these challenges receives comprehensive, personalized care, they can achieve and maintain long-term recovery.

Said as KIND and is for adult women who are in recovery from trauma related disorders that include anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders and is a healing program committed to providing high-quality care in an environment that fosters renewal, restoration, and healing. KIK focuses on dealing with stressful and traumatic incidences in one's life. Particular emphasis is on developing the necessary coping skills to deal with these incidents. It's not uncommon for those recovering from drugs and alcohol to have gone through traumatic events before or during their addiction. Trauma programs may be the most sensible way to overcome the disorder. Trauma Resolution is an amazing process that eliminates the negative effects of trauma. When individuals experience trauma, deep parts of the mind continue to respond to that trauma long after the experience has passed. These repressed feelings affect thinking, emotions, relationships, health and behavior. Traumatic experiences events may include receiving a poor grade in school to incidences as serious as an assault and rape. We will work collectively as a team and individually to help a person resolve past traumas.

Much of our staff is blood related, or is a graduate from our program. We understand addictions impact on the individual as well as their family so we feel its imperative to bring addicts into a supportive, but firm environment. Our facility is small as we believe the smaller the classroom the higher potential for learning. At The Refuge, we know depression and posttraumatic stress disorder can become a serious problem. It can affect your ability to make decisions, hold a job, attend school or interact socially, even with those with whom you are closest. In the most serious cases, depression can become so debilitating you may feel as if you can no longer function in a major area of your life. Often, in such serious cases, people may attempt to self-medicate with drugs and/or alcohol which can lead to a substance abuse problem, or they may become violent due to bad judgment, irritability, and negative thought processes, or feel as if they want to hurt or kill themselves. If you or anyone you know is suffering from depression please call us today, we can help.

Serenity Springs Recovery Center (Since 2012) is regarded as Florida's best drug & alcohol treatment center for men. Historically, high success rates within the substance abuse industry depend on three important modalities: 1. GENDER SPECIFIC: The opposite sex can be a distraction and tends to inhibit vulnerability in the male population. In a gender-specific setting men are more inclined to shed their armor and get open and honest. 2. DURATION OF STAY: Length of stay is based on an individual's history, presenting problems, and progress in treatment. We don't keep a client a day too long or discharge a day too early. With our continuing care program, clients may remain engaged with our team indefinitely. CENSUS SIZE: Our small, intimate, 20-bed facility creates a sense of community. This allows us to ensure deep, clinical work, as well as true, individualized care. At Serenity Springs you will NEVER get "lost in the shuffle." We are a family, not a corporation. We value ethics in treatment, truth in sobriety, and genuine passion for recovery.

Sexual Abuse Treatment Centers

How do therapists treat sexual abuse?

A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?

Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?

Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?

As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.

Rehab in Florida

Clients who are looking for Drug Rehab in Florida or Alcohol Rehab in Florida can find help at a treatment center. The first step towards recovery usually requires clients to detox in Florida under medical supervision, and follow-up with a period of intensive therapy at the center.

INPATIENT or OUTPATIENT?

Residential inpatient treatment in Florida consists of 24-hour care at a live-in facility. Full treatment services, including medical and behavioral therapy, are provided all at one location.

Outpatient treatment programs in Florida provide flexibility to those who are unable to take time away from their regular lives, work or school. Programs typically meet at the clinic a couple of times every week for a few hours at a time.

Certain programs provide a combination of the in/out approach: Inpatient for medical stabilization, partial hospitalization for moderate cases, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient clinics for follow-up. For instance, opiate abusers may find it helpful to begin their abstinence with a brief but intensive outpatient opiate drug detox in Florida.
