Evidence-based Therapeutic Treatment Program
Most agree that the first priority of a parent is to keep their child safe. When a teenager is taking risks that negatively impacts his or her life, and outpatient counseling has failed, the intervention of a residential treatment program may be the best course of action. Since 2006, Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP) has provided evidence-based therapeutic treatment for boys and girls ages 12 - 18. Our typical client may be struggling with one or more of the following: depression, anxiety, maladaptive behaviors, declining grades, poor peer choices, grief/loss, adoption issues, mental illness and/or dependency on alcohol or substances. We utilize a multidisciplinary treatment team to evaluate, assess and develop an individualized treatment plan to meet the needs of each client. ERTP is licensed by the State of Alabama Department of Youth Services and is accredited in Behavioral Health Care by The Joint Commission. Clients in grades 6 - 12 attend an accredited, college-prep school on site and are supported by Highly Qualified and State Certified Teachers.
Multidisciplinary Treatment Team
Elk River Treatment Program's multidisciplinary treatment team is led by a child and adolescent forensic psychiatrist, and includes physicians, licensed counselors, social workers, RNs, CRNP and state certified teachers. Our mission is to provide comprehensive care to meet the unique needs of each of our clients. We utilize the Counseling Stages of Change to help our clients understand lasting change. The mental health professionals at Elk River Treatment Program place a strong emphasis on family therapy and training. Since treatment plans are individualized, the length of stay varies according to the child's issues and response to treatment. Discharge planning is thorough and is coordinated with family, outpatient providers and community resources. Emphasis is placed on reintegrating the client with parents/guardians, school and community.
Individualized Treatment and Education
Elk River Treatment Program (ERTP) incorporates evidence-based and empirically supported treatment modalities which are critical to the mental health of our clients. Based on the needs of the individual and family, treatment modalities might include: Transtheoretical Model, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Group Therapy, and Individual Therapy. Therapeutic workshops include abandonment, anger management, goal setting, accountability, communication skills, peer relations, and experiential learning. Clients who have been struggling in traditional classrooms often achieve academic success in our smaller classrooms with individualized attention from Highly Qualified and State Certified educators. Like the therapeutic component of ERTP, our academic program is individualized to meet the needs of each individual. Our clients may continue ERTP's education program after completing the program or return to their school of transfer. Call or Email
