Bayside Marin is one of the nation's premier residential treatment programs. Located on a serene and secluded campus in northern California that overlooks San Francisco Bay, Bayside Marin is a small, private, and highly personalized program for adult men and women, aged 18 and older, who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction, and co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and borderline personality disorder. The Bayside philosophy places great emphasis on incorporating science-based, research-supported clinical services into comprehensive treatment plans that are personalized to address the unique needs of each client. Treatment at Bayside Marin is holistic experience that is designed to help clients heal in all areas of their lives, including their physical health, mental health, employment, relationships, finances, housing, and social support systems. From detox (if necessary), through residential treatment with a robust family component, and into a 12-month post-discharge recovery support program, Bayside provides a full spectrum of services to guide clients out of the depths of addiction and onto the path of long-term recovery. Addiction to alcohol or other drugs is a debilitating progressive disease that has the potential to wreak havoc on a person's physical, mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. Addiction is a complex chronic condition that is marked by the inability to resist the powerful urge to use mind-altering substances. Common signs and symptoms of addiction include developing tolerance (needing to use increasingly larger amounts of a substance in order to achieve the same result), prioritizing the acquisition and use of drugs over one's relationships, career prospects, academic progress, or other responsibilities, and experiencing painful withdrawal symptoms when attempting to stop using. Treatment at Bayside Marin is based upon a unique self-paced approach that is known as The Bayside Model. Developed through decades of addiction recovery experience, The Bayside Model is a sophisticated six-phase clinical approach that addresses the ways in which addiction can impact virtually every aspect of a person's life. To promote the physical health of our clients, Bayside offers personal training services at our fully equipped gym, as well as physical therapy, biofeedback, therapeutic massage, acupuncture, and nutritional counseling. Mental health services include psychological testing, psychiatric counseling, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Individual, group, and family therapy sessions are led by master's- and doctoral-level therapists. The spiritual aspect of recovery is addressed through options including meditation, yoga, tai-chi, quigong, spirituality groups, gratitude groups, and expressive arts therapy. Depending upon their personal preferences, clients may participate in recovery support groups that follow the 12-Step, LifeRing, or SMART models. To prepare for life-long recovery, Bayside offers extensive relapse-prevention instruction, as well as an extensive 12-month continuing care program.
