The Sylvia Brafman Mental Health Center is a brand new, world-class behavioral health treatment center founded by widely recognized thought-leaders in mental health and substance abuse disorders. We put those who suffer on a path to thriving in all areas of life through uniquely tailored clinical, spiritual, and psychiatric support. We are primarily focused on mental health, while also specializing in addiction treatment. Our co-founders Ben Brafman and Jaime Blaustein are regarded as thought-leaders in behavioral health; they are hands-on experts who combine clinical knowledge and practical experience. Ben Brafman was the CEO and founder of Destination Hope, a premier addiction treatment center in Florida, where he met Jaime Blaustein, an addict who attended Ben's treatment center at 21 years old. Jaime went on to recover at 24 years old, sponsor many men, receive his MBA at Duke University, and enter Wall Street as an investment banker. Our approach is passionate and authentic; our treatment design and dynamic is real and genuine, not a cookie-cutter approach. We treat adults suffering from chronic cases of mild to severe mental disorders ranging from bipolar disorder to acute generalized anxiety disorder, clinical depression, schizophrenia, substance abuse disorder and personality disorders among a number of other disorders. A typical patient has experienced increasing levels of unmanageability over time, both internally and externally, and likely as sought treatment in the past with limited success. He or she feels completely alone and misunderstood. When they enter treatment, our patients are at a point where they need stabilization. They are at the “in between” phase – not necessarily needing confinement in a psychiatric hospital, but struggling to live life on life’s terms, function as a human being and in a dark place emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We are often the last option before confined hospitalization and have the expertise to treat patients so they can recover before getting to the most intensive level of care. Our primary focus is mental health, which often leads to substance abuse issues which we are well equipped to address through Ben and Jaime’s experience in this space. Our founders Bbring their uniquely diverse clinical and practical experiences and wisdom to the table. Ben Brafman’s presence as a national thought-leader on mental health, combined with Jaime Blaustein’s practical experience reemerging from the depths of addiction, provides SBMHC with a differentiated perspective on how to confront mental illness. We are focused primarily on mental health, as opposed to being a primary substance abuse treatment center that views mental health as a secondary afterthought – recognizing the overlap between the two We are professionals and insiders in the treatment space . Our Co-founder and CEO has recovered from mental illness and substance abuse and have been in the shoes of our patients. We don’t feel bound to conventional rehab norms – we employ outside-the-box, thoughtful clinical techniques. We are huge advocates of the right diagnosis and are more interested in causes and conditions than symptoms – but are not married to diagnostic labeling.
