Who We Are
We are a different kind of teen treatment center. At Newport Academy, we address the underlying causes of destructive behaviors—the trauma and abandonment wounds that catalyze depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and co-occurring issues. Our integrated approach guides teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing from mental health conditions, including maladaptive behaviors such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and self-harm. Our mission is to empower teens and restore families. Based in clinical expertise and compassionate care, our whole-person treatment model takes into account the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs of adolescents. Across our full continuum of care, we offer a blend of evidence-based modalities and experiential therapies that address the medical and life needs of our patients. We support young people ages 12 and up in building authentic connection with self; restoring harmony in the family system; and developing supportive relationships with peers. While patients may fall behind in their academics at other treatment centers, Newport Academy, as part of our treatment model, ensures that they not only stay on track but also experience academic engagement and progress in our accredited program, in some cases for the first time. Our whole-person approach to mental healthcare encompasses our philosophy of education, which focuses on students’ strengths and talents while supporting them to regain lost ground. As our clients experience reductions in depression and anxiety symptoms, they also move forward in their academic engagement and study skills, while earning credits toward graduation. We maintain a high ratio of staff to students, with small groups and individualized tutoring provided by our highly trained and licensed teachers and tutors, most with advanced degrees. When they return to their home schools, Newport alumni remain on track with their grade level, curriculum, and credits, and—just as important—feel more prepared, organized, and excited about learning. The safety and well-being of the adolescents in our care is our highest priority. Our industry-leading staff-to-client ratios, our secure and beautiful campuses, and our structured and supervised programming consistently lead to high client, family, and referent satisfaction scores, illustrating that families and referring providers feel confident in placing their children or clients in our care. Our focus on safety and security extends to COVID-19 procedures.
