Signs and Symptoms of Depression
One of the most common mental health conditions affecting people of all ages is depression. Cornerstone to this disorder are feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and helplessness that can hinder a person's functioning in a myriad of ways. Being able to recognize the signs and symptoms of depression is the first step a person can take towards getting help to alleviate the oftentimes crippling effects of this disorder. Individuals who are depressed often lose interest in activities that were once enjoyed, sleep more often, and/or experience changes in appetite that can cause weight loss or gain. Additionally, depressed people will appear tearful or display emotional outbursts after being triggered by a minor stressor. Furthermore, those who experience ongoing depression symptoms may begin to use drugs and/or alcohol as a means of coping with their inner turmoil. For some, depression can lead to suicidal ideations or attempts.. What is important to know, however, is that those who are battling depression can find relief from this condition by engaging in treatment that can alleviate depression symptoms and instill skills for managing stress that can serve a person well for a lifetime.
Treatment Options at MeadowWood Behavioral Health
MeadowWood Behavioral Health System prides itself in being a superior provider of mental healthcare for people of all ages. Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17, adults over the age of 18, and senior adults over the age of 55 who are in need of short-term intensive care that is designed to stabilize the symptoms of psychiatric conditions can partake in MeadowWood's separate inpatient programs for these three different populations. Within inpatient care, those receiving treatment have round-the-clock support from professionals who are experienced in helping people overcome the symptoms of many mental illnesses. Adolescents, adults, and senior adults who are battling mental health concerns and chemical dependency issues can engage in MeadowWood's co-occurring program. Within this program, patients can recover from a substance abuse problem and receive high quality care for any existing mental health disorders. Furthermore, those who complete this program or those who are not in need of intensive treatment can receive care through MeadowWood's co-occurring partial hospitalization program. This program is for people who require stabilization but are well enough to return home and resume treatment at MeadowWood the next day. Take the first step to help. Call or Email
