Treatment for Depression

Depression will vary from person to person. However, there are some common signs and symptoms that may be present. The more symptoms an individual has, the stronger they are, and the longer they have lasted, the more likely it is that they are struggling with depression. It is when these symptoms have become overwhelming and disabling, that it is time to seek help. Some symptoms of depression may include feelings of hopelessness as well as loss of interest in daily activities. Some individuals with depression may experience changes in appetite and weight changes. Sleep changes, loss of energy, and unexplained aches and pains may also be present. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for someone to become angry or irritable, have strong feelings of worthlessness or quilt, and begin to engage in reckless behavior. Finally, depression is a major risk for suicide as the feelings of despair may cause an individual to believe that death is the only way to end the pain.
