Adult Inpatient Treatment
Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a premier provider of comprehensive inpatient programming for adults who are struggling with mental health concerns and substance use disorders. Our inpatient treatment services are designed for patients age 18 and older who have been experiencing symptoms of mental health disorders such as bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder. Meeting the unique personal needs of each patient is a priority at our hospital. That’s why each person who is admitted to our inpatient program completes a thorough medical and psychological assessment. We then create a personalized treatment plan that may include a variety of clinical services, such as basic medical care, medication management services, detoxification, individual therapy, multiple types of group therapy, and family therapy. We also develop detailed discharge plans to promote continued progress after a patient has completed their stay with us. Patients typically remain in our inpatient treatment program for five to seven days. Treatment Approach

Treatment at our hospital may incorporate a wide range of research-supported modalities and services, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and the 12-Step recovery model. Every person who receives care in one of our inpatient units works in close collaboration with a team of skilled clinical and medical professionals. The members of our multidisciplinary inpatient treatment team encourage all patients to play an active role in their care, express their thoughts and concerns, and take ownership of their recovery to the greatest degree they are able. Covington Behavioral Health Hospital is a safe and secure inpatient treatment center that offers 24/7 care for individuals in need of acute treatment for mental health and addiction concerns. We are located on the North Shore of the greater New Orleans area, approximately 40 miles north of New Orleans across Lake Pontchartrain. Our hospital consists of multiple units that are organized by nature and severity of need, including a specialized inpatient treatment unit for military members and veterans. During their stay, patients can work with a number of clinical professionals who are experts in their field. Our team consists of physicians, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), licensed counselors, licensed social workers, and mental health technicians. We also have dietitians and an activity therapist on staff who offer services to complement traditional therapies like individual and group therapy. In addition to providing premier inpatient services, every member of our team works diligently to ensure the safety of all patients, staff, and visitors.
