I work particularly well with both men and women with emotional and life issues, childhood trauma, and gay and straight couples with communication and other difficulties. I help individuals with serious mental illness make positive changes in their lives,and work with their families. I work with addictions and the intersection with emotional issues, particularly using 12-step programs.
My specialties include issues of trauma, family of origin issues, addiction, personal problems, career and education and addiction. My extensive couples work includes communication issues, family crises, aging, illness or death of loved ones. I offer family therapy around developmental stage issues and communication and an advocate for resolving parent/child issues.
I recognizes the importance of individual difference, and work from a context of cultural sensitivity, including ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, religion, and the importance of societal issues. I work extensively with cross-racial and LGBT identified couples. My transpersonal perspective includes spirituality, social justice, critical connection between individuals and the world.
