Culturally Sensitive Care for Military Families
The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic (Cohen Clinic) at Easterseals provides high-quality and accessible behavioral health care to veterans, active-duty service members, their families, and caregivers. Our services are available to any person who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves, regardless of role or discharge status. The Cohen Clinic uses evidence-based practices with a holistic approach to improve the quality of life for people with military backgrounds and their families. Services are provided by trained and credentialed staff. We treat individuals, couples, families, and children aged 4 years and older. Appointments are available for in-person care and by telehealth. We will also help connect veteran families to community resources and services, as necessary. Skilled Clinicians with Specialized Training
The highly skilled clinicians at the Cohen Clinic treat a variety of behavioral health challenges, including: anger, depression, grief and loss, hyper-vigilance (being on high alert), LGBTQ issues, postpartum depression, post-traumatic stress, relationship and family difficulties, sleep problems, stress and anxiety, substance misuse, and transitional challenges. We provide targeted, short-term, evidence-based therapies, which include: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia, Emotionally Focused Couples and Family Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Gottman Couples Therapy, Integrated Case Management, Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Problem Solving Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Psychiatric Evaluation and Management We Treat the Whole Person
We focus on meeting your needs to improve your quality of life and offer brief case-management services, as well as connecting you to needed resources, including caregiver support, child care, housing assistance, legal assistance, and personal finance resources. Because we are a part of the local Easterseals affiliate, we can also connect you to services designed for the veteran or military family, such as career transition support, respite care, and more.
