Who We Are
Co-founded by Dr. Lata McGinn and Dr. Alec, Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants (CBC) is an evidence-based mental health center in the Upper East and Upper West side of Manhattan, New York and White Plains, New York that provides high quality clinical and wellness services both in an in-person and a virtual format. We treat clients through the lifespan (toddlers, preschoolers, elementary and middle school aged children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults). Among other conditions, we specialize in the treatment of stress and anxiety disorders (worry, general anxiety, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, specific phobias, selective mutism, and separation anxiety), obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress, depression, oppositional and defiant problems, school refusal, ADHD, habit disorders, family accommodation, and family conflict.
Our Treatment Services
CBC specializes in cognitive and behavioral therapies (CBT), which are compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy treatments to prevent and treat mental health conditions, manage emotions, overcome problems and reach valued life goals. We provide ongoing individual, group, parent, and family therapy in weekly, bi-weekly and intensive formats. In addition to individual CBT for a wide range of conditions, our ongoing specialized programs include our trauma program, which offers Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, our PCIT program for children with defiant behaviors, and our intensive CBT-SAGE program, which offers concentrated exposure and response prevention practice for young adults. We also offer time-limited CBT groups such as exposure groups, social anxiety groups, selective mutism groups, SPACE groups for parents of anxious children, and parent skills groups for parents of children with oppositional defiant behaviors. We also have intensive group CBT programs such as our OCD intensive program, which provides concentrated exposure and response prevention practice for teens, and our Voices Rising intensive group for children with selective mutism.
