About Our Treatment Center
For over 30 years, The Camp Recovery Center has provided life-saving substance abuse & co-occurring disorder treatment that has helped numerous adolescents and adults live happy, healthy lives. Located among the Redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains, The Camp provides effective treatment and structured programming. Certified and licensed staff members guide residents towards recovery by conducting individual, group, family, and experiential therapies. Additionally, residents take part in resident-led community meetings to broaden each individual's sober support network. Licensed by the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and certified by the Commission of Rehab Facilities, The Camp has demonstrated its success as a treatment provider through the success of residents who have achieved recovery.
Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment at The Camp
The Camp Recovery Center offers a full spectrum of treatment options for adolescents, women, and men who wish to recover from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol and co-occurring disorders. For those who come to The Camp requiring detoxification from the harmful substances they are addicted to, this center offers detox services that occur at the start of a resident's care. Once detox is complete, patients begin residential programming. Residential treatment at The Camp is catered to meet the needs each patient, offering separate specialized care for adolescents and adults. Residential treatment is most appropriate for those who require structured yet highly supported treatment to defeat their addictions & co-occurring disorders. The Camp also offers an intensive outpatient program for adults, which is often used as a step-down programming option for those who have completed residential treatment. Each one of these programs includes treatment for co-occurring mental illnesses, to ensure residents receive the most effective care possible.
Signs and Symptoms of Co-Occurring Disorders
Battling an addiction is one of the most difficult ordeals a person can go through. Combining the pain and distruction of addiction with the distressing symptoms of untreated mental illness can lead to crushing turmoil. It is fairly common for people to suffer from addiction and mental illness that occurs at the same time, which is also known as dual diagnosis. The telltale signs and symptoms of co-occurring disorders can vary depending on the type of disorders that are present. Those with depression may experience intense emotional lows, sleep disturbances, appetite changes, and may being to self-harm. People suffering from anxiety disorders may engage in more rigid ritualistic behaviors and struggle with day-to-day completion of tasks. Individuals battling post traumatic stress disorder may avoid certain people, places, or things that remind them of the trauma. Regardless of the disorder present, the abuse of substances can make mental illness symptoms worse. Ultimately, the development of a serious addiction may occur if effective care for dual diagnosis is not sought.
