Southern Indiana Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), located in Charlestown, Indiana, offers medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for adults age 18 and older of all genders who are struggling with opioid addictions. There is significant evidence to support the use of MAT to help adults who have opioid use disorder limit their cravings, avoid painful withdrawal symptoms, and find lasting recovery. While medications like methadone help ease the process of withdrawal, medication alone is not enough to address the complex physical and psychological elements of opioid addiction. MAT works by combining medications with therapy to provide a comprehensive treatment for opioid addiction. Each school-age patient who participates in our adolescent residential programs can continue to get a traditional education through our school, The Village Academy, located on the Village Behavioral Health campus. The Village Academy is a private school that has been approved by the Tennessee State Department of Education and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Our school staff includes qualified administrators and full-time credentialed teachers who are state-licensed in English, mathematics, social studies, and natural sciences. The Village Academy provides remedial and special education services for students who have emotional concerns and learning differences. Our teachers work closely with each student’s previous school, and each student completes an evaluation that can give us insight into their educational needs. This information can help us design an individual academic plan for each patient. Because The Village Academy is fully accredited, students can complete all high school graduation requirements at our school if needed.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has acknowledged MAT to be an effective way to treat opioid use disorder and help people achieve long-term recovery. It is a unique approach that incorporates the use of both therapy sessions and prescription medication to address the physical and psychological elements of addiction. Prescription medication can help keep patients at ease during treatment by reducing the uncomfortable symptoms of withdrawal. Counseling sessions are offered in both individual and group settings and can provide a space for patients to reflect on their history of substance use and explore underlying causes.

Impact Outpatient Program is designed to allow participants to maintain the elements of their regular routine while attending therapy between three and five days per week, depending on the specific program’s intensity. IOP is designed to ensure your treatment program meets your specific needs and goals. This means program characteristics such as the length and type of counseling sessions, how many sessions you will attend, and how long your program will last. Most outpatient programs last longer than residential programs, with some lasting up to a year or more. The often extended duration of outpatient programs is due to the less intensive nature of the program. As a result, it sometimes takes longer for patients to meet their treatment goals. Therapy sessions in our program consist of a combination of individual and group therapy counseling. At Impact we do have strict requirements requiring you to attend each of your planned sessions so that we can help you sustain your goal of long term recovery. Failure to do so, in some cases, can result in a referral to an inpatient program that may better suit your needs.
