Choices Outpatient Program, Treatment Center in Falls Church

A New Choice

Dominion Hospital, a leader in short-term mental health services for children, adolescents and adults, has developed a new choice for the treatment of adolescents struggling with emotional and/or behavioral issues - Choices Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program. Choices Adolescent IOP provides an intermediate level of care for adolescents with needs too complex for individual therapy alone, but that do not warrant inpatient hospitalization. Choices Adolescent IOP'S interdisciplinary treatment team has developed a program that integrates the latest clinical research to provide adolescents with new tools to master the practical challenges of everyday life.
Choices Adolescent IOP provides a wide array of structured therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, dual diagnosis therapy, expressive therapies including art, dance-movement, or music therapy, social and life skills, multifamily group therapy, and parent education. Participants will attend three sessions a week where they will learn how to achieve a healthy life balance. Program offers: * Adolescents ages 12 to 18 (those age 18 must also be in high school) * Short-term, intensive programming integrated with re-entry to school and community * Parent education provided to support the patient's skill set for ongoing recovery * Multi-family group therapy * Voluntary participation. Choices Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program would be appropriate for individuals struggling with: * Aggressive and/or defiant behavior * Crisis management * Depression and/or anxiety * Management of daily living skills * Grief, loss, or abandonment * Self-injurious behavior

Summer Programming

Choices Adolescent IOP is a great solution for families in need of more than just outpatient individual therapy during the summer months by offering a convenient schedule and an opportunity to prepare for the challenges of the upcoming school year. * Evening hours allow adolescents to engage in regular summer activities such as summer camps, summer school, or other care arrangements during the day, and allow parents to participate in treatment while maintaining a daytime work schedule. * Skills groups help adolescents to reinforce coping strategies during a time of less exposure to their stressors. * Parent education and support helps parents and their adolescents strengthen the connections that will aid them in approaching challenging times with greater resilience.
