Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Charleston Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) provides outpatient opioid addiction treatment services in Charleston, West Virginia. Adults age 18 and older can receive medication-assisted treatment (MAT) under the supervision of our experienced staff. MAT combines the use of prescription medication and counseling to help people stop opioid use, avoid relapse, and achieve recovery. Our CTC offers this comprehensive treatment approach because it has proved effective in treating the physical, psychological, and social aspects of opioid use disorder. The medications used in MAT alleviate the painful physical symptoms and intense cravings that can result during opioid withdrawal. Therapy allows people to share their experiences with skilled professionals in a supportive environment. By taking part in counseling, patients can process memories, experiences, and emotions that could interfere with their recovery. MAT at our CTC allows patients to maintain their regular schedules while participating in outpatient services that can increase their daily functioning and help them envision a better future.
What To Expect
Since methadone was introduced as a maintenance medication in the 1960s, MAT has evolved to include new treatment protocols and medications. At Charleston CTC, we strive to surpass the services offered at traditional methadone clinics. We aim to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based opioid addiction treatment available. Our comprehensive services include prescription medication management and therapy sessions. When you receive care at our opioid addiction treatment center, we will create a personalized plan that addresses your needs and goals. During your first visit, you will complete an intake evaluation that allows our staff to get information about your health, medical history, and prior substance use. This assessment can help us determine whether methadone, Suboxone, buprenorphine, or Vivitrol would be most appropriate for your needs. After your evaluation, a staff member can prescribe medication and go over your therapy schedule. At our CTC, patients take part in individual and group counseling sessions where they can learn relapse prevention skills and form connections with peers who can be a source of strength and encouragement.
