Benefits of Medication-Assisted Treatment
Calais Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) specializes in medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, which is a time-tested approach to opioid addiction treatment. MAT has been closely studied in the United States for decades and has a history of effectiveness that is acknowledged by respected organizations such as the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The core components of MAT are prescription medication and counseling. The medications that are offered in MAT can ease the distressing symptoms of opioid withdrawal and suppress intense cravings. Some MAT patients take prescription medication for a short time, while others take it for months or years. These FDA-approved medications have proved to be safe and effective for short- and long-term use when taken with supervision from trained professionals. The counseling component of MAT at our CTC can help patients address the emotional and social aspects of opioid addiction. During these sessions, patients can learn about opioid use disorder and develop skills that can help them achieve recovery. What To Expect
The well-rounded care we offer at Calais CTC sets us apart from traditional methadone clinics. Our staff works closely with patients who receive opioid addiction treatment at our center. During your first appointment at our CTC, you’ll complete a thorough assessment that allows our team to determine the most appropriate medication and therapies for you. Our patients can receive methadone or buprenorphine, depending on their needs. As part of your personalized care plan, you’ll return to our clinic for regular check-ups and counseling sessions so that our staff can monitor your progress, make necessary adjustments, and help you reach your goals. Individual therapy sessions are confidential, one-on-one meetings with a trained professional who can offer education and encouragement. Group sessions are supportive forums where you can share your insights and learn from the experiences of other members of our recovery community. Our flexible outpatient MAT program allows you to receive medication services and counseling as you continue to work and take care of other daily responsibilities. Our Comprehensive Treatment Center
