Comprehensive-DBT Residential Treatment for Teens
Evolve Treatment Centers supports adolescents ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, addiction, and/or behavioral issues. Evolve Vanalden is a Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Residential Treatment Center: the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the country. DBT is an evidence-based treatment that has been proven to help reduce emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, and/or suicidal ideation. We treat teens diagnosed with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, addiction, or other issues. Evolve's robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy (at least five scheduled 1-hour sessions a week), DBT Skills Training Groups (4 times a week), and skills coaching (24/7). Teens learn and practice the four core skills of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. At Evolve, we don't just learn DBT, we live it. With the help of our specialized staff, teens practice and apply their DBT skills at all opportunities throughout the day. What Does “Comprehensive DBT” Mean?
A “Comprehensive DBT” program means that the treatment center includes all four formal components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy: DBT-focused individual and family therapy (1), skills training (2), skills coaching (3), and weekly staff consultation team (4). Evolve Vanalden is a fully compliant Comprehensive DBT program. Our Executive Clinical Director has been intensively trained in DBT through Behavioral Tech (the premier institute for DBT). A respected leader in Comprehensive DBT Residential Programming for Adolescents, she ensures all staff members receive ongoing training in DBT techniques. Since many of our teens struggle with high emotional sensitivity and reactivity, our licensed DBT clinicians and counselors are specially trained to respond to crises and provide in-the-moment, face-to-face skills coaching for your child 24/7. To ensure your teen is continuously receiving the highest standard of treatment, our Vanalden team (which includes a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, licensed therapists, on-site nurses, counselors and 24-hour support staff) meets weekly to evaluate their treatment administration and your teen’s progress. To ensure that our high-impact, immersive Comprehensive DBT residential treatment center is appropriate for your child, we conduct a full assessment prior to admission. Our licensed, DBT-trained Admissions Clinician then reviews each assessment to determine whether we can help your teen. Evolve Vanalden can serve as a smooth transition for teens stepping down from inpatient hospitalization, or as a step-up option for teens who need more support and structure than outpatient therapy provides. Our home is located in a quiet residential area of Tarzana, CA, offering comfortable accommodations, a swimming pool, onsite chef, fully equipped gym, school room, and self-soothe room to practice DBT coping skills. In addition to our residential treatment centers, we also offer partial hospitalization programs and Intensive outpatient programs – where many teens transition to after successful completion of our Vanalden program.
