Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment proven to help teens struggling with emotion dysregulation, self-harming behavior, suicidal ideation, and other mental health issues. Evolve’s Comprehensive DBT residential treatment center is the first of its kind in California and one of only a handful in the entire country. Many of our teens struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder, addiction or other high-acuity issues. We offer individual therapy (at least 3 times a week), family therapy (2 times a week, with out-of-state families participating remotely), DBT Skills Training Groups (4 times a week), and skills-coaching (24/7). We provide intensive outpatient drug and alcohol addiction treatment in a warm, caring and healing environment. Group therapy is offered five days a week with morning and evening sessions. Family therapy as well. Individual therapy is offered by a licensed Clinical Psychologist and staff. We can provide documentation of enrollment and completion as well as UA results for courts. We help our patients cope with the isolation that comes with depression and mental illness. By coupling the latest technology with support and education, our goal is to provide patients with sustainable long-term recovery from depression. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA approved method for treating depression. The patient’s neural pathways responsible for mood are stimulated by a magnetic field created by coils in the machine. The machine is placed over the patient’s head while they sit in a comfortable chair. The effects of TMS are long-lasting and have been tested and proven safe.

At Evolve Woodland Hills, we provide the highest caliber of evidence-based residential treatment for adolescents 12-17 struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, ADHD, self-harming or high-risk behaviors, suicidality, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, and other behavioral issues. Our primary modes of treatment are Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We believe treatment works best when it is individually tailored, and our clinical staff conducts a comprehensive evaluation of each teen pre- and post-admission in order to develop a customized, highly detailed treatment plan that is constantly updated based on treatment progress. Our robust clinical program includes individual and family therapy at least 5 times a week; weekly psychiatry sessions; groups on DBT Skills Training, Anger Management, Relapse Prevention, and Seeking Safety; and daily academic support. Teens also participate in experiential therapies proven to support recovery (e.g. equine, surf, art, drama, music, fitness, cooking, yoga, etc.) as well as 12-Step programs for those struggling with substance use/dual diagnoses.

Some people do not need residential treatment but could still benefit from more intensive treatment than weekly therapy sessions or group support meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous. This is where an intensive outpatient program works perfectly. Many of our patients find our outpatient program beneficial as a step-down treatment program after they have completed our residential program. They continue to receive the support and education they need to succeed but can live at home or in one of our sober living facilities. If you are looking to initiate treatment, it can be difficult to decide between residential or outpatient treatment. The majority of people get the most benefit from beginning with residential treatment and then moving to outpatient treatment. However, some people cannot take the time nor have the budget to enroll in a residential treatment program. In this instance, initiating treatment with an intensive outpatient program, such as the one at Pax House, will offer many of the same support mechanisms and educational tools to build a foundation for lifelong sobriety.
