About Oakwood Family Treatment Centers
Oakwood Family Treatment is dedicated to helping teens, young adults, and their families create a foundation for healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. In doing so we use a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, clinically-based treatment approach that is highly individualized, integrative, and holistic in nature. Our goal is to promote human potential, mindful living, and spiritual well-being. At Oakwood it is our mission to provide families with the direction and resources needed to help teens thrive developmentally, giving parents and their teens the power to create and sustain transformative change in their lives.
About Our Founder
Dan is the Founder and Clinical Director of Oakwood. He holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Daniel has an extensive background and work history treating adolescents and their families for over 27 years as a therapist, clinical director and consultant. He is the Founder and Clinical Director of Oakwood Family Treatment Centers specializing in adolescent treatment and its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). He is also in private practice in Pasadena, effectively treating such problems and/or disorders as anxiety, trauma, family conflict, drug & alcohol and behavioral addictions, codependency, depression, ADHD, self-harming behaviors, and self esteem issues. Dan is committed to a mindful practice, utilizing an integrated approach involving the mind and body with an emphasis on the inner process of healing through acceptance, compassion and authenticity. In his personal time, Dan enjoys spending time with his family, going surfing, hiking, camping, yoga and swimming and is an avid LA Kings fan.
Founder's Mission
I founded Oakwood Family Treatment Centers with the goal of supporting parents and their teens by offering a comprehensive array of clinical services tailored to meet the needs of each family. The need for family support and guidance has never been stronger than it is today. Having worked with hundreds of families over the years, I have found that parents facing the complexities of their teenager's world oftentimes have insufficient resources and knowledge to address their teen's problems. This can leave parents doubtful and ambivalent in their parental decision-making. All too often parents feel isolated and overwhelmed in addressing their child's unique set of challenges. At Oakwood, we "get" what families need to feel supported, and we have the clinical resources necessary to achieve successful outcomes for our clients. We believe that families are complex systems that come with many parts, and as such we provide families the comprehensive help they truly need to create positive change not just for the adolescent, but for the family system as a whole.

Groups provide a setting in which young people build self-esteem through honesty, compassionate support, and encouragement. At a developmental phase in which peer groups are a highly significant motivating force, adolescent and young adult groups harness the power of the positive peer group experience. Oakwood offers a variety of groups for teens and young adults based on each client's age and current needs, providing all of the young people we serve with the support and skills necessary to problem solve and overcome challenges in their lives.
