Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services treats boys and girls aged 12 – 17 experiencing substance use and mental health conditions. While we treat both boys and girls separately, this particular campus treats only teen boys. The Muir Wood Boys Program provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for boys experiencing a range of behavioral healthcare issues, including substance use disorders, anxiety, OCD, depression, mood disorders, and suicidality. Programming is gender-responsive and trauma-informed to create a safe and supportive atmosphere where teen boys can feel open and comfortable engaging in treatment and focusing on their care without distractions. Our boys campuses are beautiful, home-like settings in Sonoma County, California, where clients enjoy camaraderie, benefit from intensive integrated therapy, and enjoy recreation and experiential therapy activities.

The goal of Balance Treatment Center Intensive Outpatient program is to provide our clients a path to long-term stability and well-being using a balanced approach that the clients will be able to follow in their daily lives. Balance IOP provides treatment, support and education to those struggling with depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, oppositional defiance, psychosis, and substance abuse issues including dual diagnosis. Those who enter our program will be welcomed into a supportive and structured group environment, consisting of people struggling with similar challenges, where they will be made to feel comfortable expressing their struggles and concerns. At Newport Academy, our comprehensive approach supports young people ages 12 and up to address the root causes of self-destructive behaviors, not just the symptoms. From a foundation of compassionate care, clinical expertise, and unconditional love, we guide teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing by treating the underlying trauma and attachment wounds that catalyze depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and other co-occurring disorders. Incorporating clinical, experiential, and holistic modalities, our gender-specific treatment is family-focused and results-oriented. We nurture teens’ physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs. Counseling at Pacific Pride features a team of clinicians (a majority of whom identify as LGBTQ+) trained in issues relevant to LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS mental health–with full, robust training in best practices for Transgender (Non-Binary included) clients. Located in Scotts Valley, California, The Camp Recovery Center offers residential treatment to adults age 18 and older who are struggling with a substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health concerns. Common issues that we treat adults for at this level include addiction to drugs or alcohol and any protentional underlying mental health disorders. Adults can benefit from residential care when they need 24-hour support with a highly structured therapy schedule. Those who are currently using drugs or alcohol might begin their treatment with detoxification. We offer medically assisted detox to help people rid their bodies of addictive substances and achieve stabilization. Once someone begins residential treatment, they receive therapy several times each week along with medication management. The typical length of stay at this level of care is about 30-90 days, however, this time will vary based on individual concerns.

Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Institute offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many young adults who receive treatment from Newport Institute using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Institute maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.

Because Newport’s philosophy of care views family as central to long-term, sustainable healing, the groundbreaking Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) methodology is also a central component of our approach. ABFT is proven to be successful in addressing adolescent and young adult suicidality by repairing ruptures in the parent-child relationship.
