Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an in-person, short-term stabilization and treatment program for individuals aged 18 or older who are trying to cope with psychiatric issues, such as mood disorders, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. The PHP also helps those with co-occurring substance use disorders. Many individuals attend the PHP for additional treatment while receiving outpatient therapy or after an inpatient psychiatric hospital stay to prevent further worsening of symptoms that may lead to readmission or hospitalization.
Treatment is short term (5-7 days), Monday-Friday from 9AM-2PM. Individuals attend four psychotherapy groups daily. Groups teach skills to improve coping, interpersonal communication and mood regulation through use of evidence-based practice therapy and psychoeducation. We make every effort to tailor the group programming to the needs of the individual.
During treatment, individuals will have daily access to individual therapy and case management with a licensed therapist as well as medication management with a psychiatrist. These sessions focus on setting realistic goals that can be achieved throughout the duration of treatment and beyond.
