The clients who come to us often share a common experience: they've tried other types of therapy but continue to struggle with symptoms of PTSD and OCD. This is typically because they did not receive first-line, evidence-based treatment for their conditions. These treatments empower clients with tools that lead to an improved quality of life and reduced anxiety, benefits which are often maintained months after therapy concludes.

Birchwood Counseling is a woman-owned small group of therapists dedicated to providing collaborative, evidence-based therapy. We focus on the recovery from traumatic and stressful life events and the symptoms that can show up in response. We treat PTSD, anxiety disorders, OCD, and adjustment disorders during life stressors and transitions. Our clients typically have a history of relational, emotional, physical, and/or sexual trauma within their lifetime. We also support clients who have had traumatic accidents, sudden loss, or exposure to injury and death.

I am interested in working with clients who are willing to explore how their past experiences have informed their present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My hope is to support you in building the confidence and skills needed to trust yourself and shift patterns that are no longer serving you. Many clients struggle with relational wounds, and together we'll process these to foster corrective emotional experiences and positive life and brain changes.

Navigating life’s most profound transitions—the weight of trauma, the complexity of grief, or the sudden upheaval of a medical crisis—requires more than just clinical strategies; it requires a partner who understands the terrain. As a veteran with extensive experience supporting first responders and families in medical crisis, I offer a lived understanding of high-stress environments and the deep human need for purpose and resilience. My goal is to be a compassionate, non-judgmental guide for those who feel they are at a crossroads, helping you navigate the journey forward with a shared focus on healing.

Somatic & Mind-Body Integration: Drawing inspiration from Gabor Maté's work, I believe your body holds the blueprint of your emotional history. We will work to identify how past experiences manifest as physical tension, chronic stress, and behavioral patterns, learning to gently listen to and regulate your nervous system.

I believe a person is an expert in their own life and I seek to provide a space for client self-reflection and exploration. As people navigate their lives and experience challenges, they may get stuck with ways of thinking that are not always helpful. Our brains can distort things and trick us into thinking and acting in a way that is not necessarily the most productive for a healthy life. Through self-reflection and exploration, we can pinpoint the areas where your thoughts may be getting you stuck and work on challenging those patterns, learning new coping strategies, and making positive changes in your life.
