Anger Management
Anger is a normal human emotion. Depending on how it is managed and expressed, anger can have positive consequences. However, there are potential negative consequences of anger when it is not managed or expressed appropriately or effectively. Often, individuals with anger challenges were criticized earlier in life, and react to others in the same manner they were treated. Prolonged or intense anger and frustration contributes to physical conditions such as headaches, digestive problems, high blood pressure and heart disease. Group counseling can be very effective in helping individuals explore the causes of their anger and in learning anger reducing techniques.
Adolescent Outpatient Groups
Our Adolescent Outpatient Individual, family, and group counseling program is designed for youth (12 - 17) struggling with substance abuse problems. Adolescent education groups focus on motivation enhancement, relapse prevention skills, and the pharmacological effects of drugs and alcohol. Urine screens are periodically administered. Parent education groups focus on risk and protective factors in adolescent development, effective parenting, healthy communication, and relapse signs.
Adult Outpatient Groups
Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a a ninety six hour treatment program that covers 16 weeks of support that includes individual and group therapy for chemically dependent adults with the goal of becoming abstinent from drugs and alcohol. Educational groups include up-to-date research about the neuroscience of addiction. The program also teaches cognitive and behavioral skills as well as principles of wellness to assist clients in living a sober life. Weekly and monthly groups cover topics such as relapse prevention, principles of wellness, and cognitive and behavioral skills to assist clients in living a sober life.
