The Ascension Center for Mental Health (formerly Alexian Brothers) in Arlington Heights, offers an array of outpatient services.Individual therapy is available for children, adolescents and adults, including couples and family therapy. Other services include medication management with a psychiatrist, case management services, vocational rehabilitation, supported education and transitional and supportive living arrangements. In addition, for those whose symptoms are increasing, we offer an alternative to an in-patient hospitalization. Our Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program consists of a small group program daily from 9-3 for approximately three weeks, individual therapy and medication evaluation and monitoring. There is no waiting list. Call now for an initial screening! This program teaches coping skills in a safe environment, helps to reduce negative thinking, and offers therapy with others who are struggling with similar conditions. This program allows individuals to receive treatment without being too far removed from their support network and responsibilities. The time in PHP allows those to make substantial progress in their mental health issues. We service the mental health needs of the entire community with a large array of services to fit the needs of the individual. Most major insurances are accepted including Medicare and Medicaid. Services are available on a sliding fee scale for residents of Wheeling and Palatine Townships. We treat conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophrenia, ADD and others.
Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient Prog.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program is a very small outpatient group program which is held daily from 9:00-3:00 in our Arlington Heights location near Dundee Road and Route 53. It consists of small groups, individual therapy and medication evaluation and monitoring by a psychiatrist. Groups are designed to help the individual learn coping skills to manage their mental health. The individual is assessed for the program and starts immediately. They are required to attend four groups per day, meet with their individual therapist as required, and have an evaluation with the Center's psychiatrist for medication management and monitoring while in the program. Teen Introduction to Dialectical Behavior Therapy
This group is for those ages 13-18. This is a solution focused, cognitive behavioral skills training group which covers mindfulness, stress management, relationship management and emotional regulation. This group helps teens to learn the skills to monitor and control feelings and behaviors that can lead to negative thoughts and actions.

Social Skills & Empathy Building for 1st-5th grade
This is a skills building group for those in 1st through 5th grades. Children will learn to identify with their own emotions as well as develop an understanding of other's emotions. Participants will learn to cope with difficult emotions, improve mood and enhance relationships. They will also learn how to communicate and interact appropriately with others.
