At Newport Academy, our comprehensive approach supports young people ages 12 and up to address the root causes of self-destructive behaviors, not just the symptoms. From a foundation of compassionate care, clinical expertise, and unconditional love, we guide teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing by treating the underlying trauma and attachment wounds that catalyze depression, anxiety, substance abuse, eating disorders, and other co-occurring disorders. Incorporating clinical, experiential, and holistic modalities, our gender-specific treatment is family-focused and results-oriented. We nurture teens’ physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs. Our mission is to empower teens and restore families by supporting them to build the self-understanding, connection, self-acceptance, and academic and life skills that allow them to find their place in the world.

Strengthening authentic connections with self and others—including healing disruptions in the parent-child bond—is at the heart of our treatment approach. Teens in our outpatient and residential programs build self-compassion, resilience, healthy coping skills, and more trusting relationships with parents and peers. Each client’s individualized treatment plan is informed by their specific needs and history and designed by mental health treatment specialists who are the best in their respective fields. Teens are surrounded by 360-degree care, with a team that includes a psychiatrist, individual therapists, family therapists, experiential therapists, and other experts focused on treating underlying issues and external manifestations of mental health conditions. Our full continuum of care allows us to provide treatment that meets the needs of each unique adolescent—whether they are stepping down from a residential program, require a higher level of care, or are seeking ongoing structure and community through outpatient programming. Newport Academy has residential and outpatient locations around the country, in order to give as many teens and families as possible access to the treatment they need to thrive. We provide industry-leading residential care, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient services with flexible schedules, all accredited by the Joint Commission for Behavioral Healthcare, the nation’s most respected healthcare accreditation body. In addition, Newport Academy offers continuing connection once a patient leaves our care, through virtual sessions providing ongoing support for both teens and parents; and through our robust Alumni program, which keeps former clients connected through online and in-person events and support groups.

Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Institute offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many young adults who receive treatment from Newport Institute using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Institute maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.

We provide a full continuum of care at locations around the country, including residential treatment centers; a full suite of outpatient programming, with Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient services with a flexible number of days per week; telehealth; and alumni programming. All of our programs have received accreditation from the Joint Commission for Behavioral Healthcare, the nation’s most respected healthcare accreditation body. Our continuing care program provides ongoing support through virtual sessions, and our robust Alumni department keeps former clients connected through online and in-person events and support groups. Whether an adolescent needs a higher level of care, is stepping down from residential care and needs continued structure and community in our Partial Hospitalization Program, or needs several days per week of after-school support through our outpatient services option, our range of programming meets each young person and family where they are.

The cost of treatment is one of the biggest obstacles in accessing care—and it doesn’t have to be. Many families don’t seek treatment because they don’t realize that affordable mental healthcare is an option. As recently as 20 years ago, clients were forced to pay out of pocket for mental health and substance abuse treatment. Today, many insurance payers cover outpatient and residential treatment programs, and they are much more willing to provide coverage when they know a program offers safe, effective, and clinically driven treatment. To support families in their efforts to access quality adolescent treatment, Newport Institute works with leading providers of healthcare insurance to provide financing options. We have built collaborative relationships with a wide range of healthcare payers, and are adding new In-Network partners on an ongoing basis. In addition, we excel in negotiating Single Case Agreements to allow coverage by out-of-network insurers. Our goal is to optimize the benefit coverage for families who are seeking affordable residential treatment or outpatient care.
