Red Hawk Behavioral Health is a residential treatment center for adolescent girls, ages 12-17, who are experiencing future-impacting relational or emotional difficulties brought on by trauma. Limiting our care to 24 girls allows more attention to be given to each girl by our therapists and trained staff. An individualized therapeutic plan and focused care helps our residents move to a better place mentally and emotionally in a much shorter period of time, alleviating the difficulties they are currently experiencing in their lives. Our program helps each young woman find positive new ways to manage life’s obstacles and traumas that have strained their well-being and relationships in the past.

Our philosophy of care is grounded in addressing the root causes of destructive behaviors—the trauma, depression, anxiety, abandonment wounds, and lack of self-esteem that catalyze co-occurring disorders. Our integrated approach guides teens and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing from mental health conditions as well as substance abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, and other maladaptive behaviors. Based in clinical expertise and compassionate care, our whole-person treatment model takes into account the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs of adolescents. We support young people ages 12 and up in building authentic connection with self; restoring harmony in the family system; and developing supportive relationships with peers. Evolve San Diego treats teens ages 12-17 struggling with mental health, addiction or behavioral issues. We specialize in teen depression, anxiety, trauma, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, conduct disorder, ADHD, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, suicidality and other issues. Many of our teens have difficulty regulating emotions and are engaging in high-risk/self-harm behaviors. Evolve's team of highly qualified, licensed clinicians and medical professionals utilize evidence-based approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach teens practical skills for distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and improved impulse control. Because Newport’s philosophy of care views family as central to long-term, sustainable healing, the groundbreaking Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT) methodology is also a central component of our approach. ABFT is proven to be successful in addressing adolescent and young adult suicidality by repairing ruptures in the parent-child relationship. Our clinicians receive ongoing training and consultation from ABFT’s co-founders, and are also trained in a wide range of other evidence-based and trauma-informed modalities, including EMDR, DBT, CBT, and ACT.

To achieve long-term healing from OCD, young adults need treatment that provides relief from obsessions and compulsions, while addressing underlying causes and co-occurring mental health conditions. Without this full-spectrum care, young adults are vulnerable to relapse. Newport Institute’s specialized OCD treatment incorporates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, considered the gold standard of care for OCD. In addition, clients’ treatment plans include psychiatric care, medication management, other evidence-based modalities (such as EMDR and Attachment-Based Family Therapy), experiential activities, and academics/life skills education. OCD is classified as an anxiety disorder, because the symptoms of severe OCD can create extreme anxiety. However, OCD is also linked to other mental health issues. Therefore, Newport Institute provides tailored treatment plans for young adults with obsessive-compulsive disorder that also address common issues that occur alongside OCD, such as generalized anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, body dysmorphia, social anxiety, and panic disorders.

Insurance covers up to 100 percent of the treatment and therapeutic modalities that Newport Academy offers. We accept all major insurance providers and work collaboratively with payers to optimize coverage for families. Many adolescents who receive treatment from Newport Academy using insurance coverage do so through a Single Case Agreement, a special contract through which out-of-network providers can work with a family’s insurance company on an In-Network basis. Newport Academy maintains a full-time, in-house team dedicated to supporting families through the mental health insurance coverage and financing process. In order to secure sufficient insurance coverage, we will most likely need to conduct a series of clinical reviews and any requested doctor-to-doctor calls with the insurance company. While other facilities may charge for this service, we feel it is our responsibility to assist families with what can be a complex process. Our goal is to ensure that families receive the maximum coverage, so they can access the highest-quality treatment.
