Clarity is one of a select few advanced residential mental health treatment programs in N.Y. with expertise in treating complex psychiatric issues. We are physician operated program that is also licensed to provide highly advanced psychiatric treatment options such as ketamine and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Our philosophy is to minimize medications and provide one on one intensive treatment in an intimate small group environment. We service all adult ages and also offer specialty treatment tracts that address the unique needs of seniors, chronic pain sufferers. Treatment is provided to only 6 clients at a time to provide highly individualized attention. Unlike most programs that advertise for mental health but are really substance abuse treatment programs, we are proud to be one of the very few double certified true mental health programs in existence. We are licensed and certified for advanced mental health and crisis stabilization which means our clinical program, staffing and services must be the most intensive and highest caliber.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an entirely new approach to treating patients with major depression who have failed to respond, or unable to use traditional medication. Using magnetic pulses, a treatment coil is positioned on the left side of the head targeting a region called the Left Prefrontal Cortex, which stimulates an area of the brain that regulates emotion and mood. This area is under active in many cases of depression and is made more active by the treatment. TMS a non-invasive, non-drug, outpatient treatment.

The Hospital for Behavioral Medicine (HBM) offers innovative inpatient services for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. Inpatient services focus on crisis stabilization, medication management, group treatment and discharge/transition planning. Our dedicated staff of doctors, nurses, case managers, and mental health technicians are committed to providing the highest quality of patient care, bringing creativity, expressive arts, and best practices to manage and reduce unsafe behaviors.

The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) service at McLean Hospital is dedicated to providing treatment for patients with severe depression, especially those diagnosed with treatment-resistant depression (people who have not felt relief from prescription medication for depression or those who have experienced side-effects). TMS is offered at both the McLean Hospital main campus in Belmont and at McLean Southeast in Middleborough. TMS is non-invasive and requires no anesthesia or sedation. There are no restrictions on work or other activities before the treatment, and because there are no systemic effects or cognitive after-effects (memory difficulty or ability to concentrate), patients can return immediately to their regular activities. TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate nerve cells in the prefrontal cortex of the brain. The procedure typically lasts less than an hour and patients remain awake, alert, and comfortable. Patients typically receive 20 to 30 treatments over four to six weeks (five times per week). The course of treatment will vary according to each individual and will be guided by an initial assessment.

Susan Long is a Master prepared licensed therapist as well as a board certified Psychiatric Nurse practitioner. She is the owner of The Rested Mind and founded it in 2010 to serve the South Shore Massachusetts area. We have a relationship with the Archdiocese of Boston and provides services to abuse survivors. We are also honored to see active duty military and veterans ( Tricare Accepted) as well as Police, Fire and First responders. The practice was originally started for children but we expanded our services and now sees patients up to age 65 ( no medicare/medicaid). We have about 14 providers and can address a wide variety of issues. You DO NOT need change your therapist to get medication services from us as we believe comfort with a provider is important. We are open 9am in the morning until 10pm at night Mon-Thursday, Friday 10am to 4pm and Sundays 10am to 6pm to accommodate those who cannot leave work during normal business hours. We are closed Saturdays.
