About

Cutting Edge Addiction, Mental Health Treatment

Do you need effective, patient-responsive care to support sustained recovery from substance abuse, addictive behaviors, and co-occurring disorders? At Cottonwood Tucson we are focused on helping our clients get free of alcohol or drug abuse and get free of the revolving door of treatment, recovery, and relapse. Our cutting-edge, patient-responsive treatment programs are evidence based, and rely on the the latest research on the neurobiology of human development and the neuroscience of addiction and mood disorders . Our understanding of the brain, and how addiction and mood disorders can affect your brain's ability to keep you confident and in balance is part of our successful approach. Our intensive Adult Program includes a solid base of medical management, twelve-step recovery concepts, family involvement, group therapy, nutritional counseling, and experiential therapies — including optional equine therapy. Individualized treatment planning allows for effective treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders. Our team has extensive experience supporting clients with co-occurring disorders, including experience in the treatment of complex and difficult issues.

Effective Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders

Many people who struggle with substance also experience another mental health challenge, such as depression. This is called a co-occuring disorder. If you have been diagnosed with a mental health issue in addition to substance abuse you have received a dual diagnosis. Often, the additional challenge powers substance abuse. The drug or alcohol abuse can, in turn, make the additional mental health challenge more difficult. Getting treatment for the co-occuring disorder increases the chances for robust, sustained recovery. To determine whether there is a need for co-occurring disorders/dual diagnosis treatment, each patient who enters Cottonwood participates in a detailed medical and psychiatric assessment, including a thorough physical examination with a staff physician. Cottonwood's co-occurring disorders program has been proven to have a positive effect on preventing relapse after drug and alcohol treatment. If you are not sure about your diagnosis, consider our comprehensive individual evaluation — a five-day intensive inpatient addiction and/or mental health assessment program that provides a comprehensive evaluation that will focus on your specific needs.

Expert Clinical Staff, Integrative Holistic Care

You can expect expert care at Cottonwood, facilitated by our skilled and compassionate staff. Each patient is supported by a physician, psychiatrist, and primary counselor. Our commitment to excellence is evidenced by our robust treatment program, which includes an array of treatment modalities, including individual and group therapy, a family program, medical detox, and relapse prevention. Your therapy program will be tailored to your needs and may include trauma-informed therapy, 12-step meetings, psychoeducation, EMDR, psychodrama, and sessions with one of our in-house mental health therapists. Support is provided for mood disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, grief, PTSD, and other challenges. At Cottonwood Tucson, we strongly believe in the treatment of mind, body, and spirit. Our program will include nutrition and opportunities for health living.
