About
Over 20 Years of Experience
Action Family Counseling is a group of dedicated, compassionate, and highly trained experts in the fields of Addictive Medicine, Substance Abuse Treatment, and Mental Health. We have been providing client centered, individualized, and compassionate care and treatment for adults, adolescents, and families in Santa Clarita, Ventura, Simi Valley, and Bakersfield for over 20 years. We recognize that seeking help for addiction to drugs and alcohol is difficult for many reasons. We understand that many of us feel embarrassed, guilty, shameful, and scared. We want anybody who is seeking treatment to understand that these feelings are not only normal, but inextricably woven into what it means to be human. From our perspective, the only regret would be to not seek help. The treatment team is made up of a multi-disciplinary and highly trained group of professionals consisting of psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, chemical dependency counselors, mental health and professional counselors, case managers, social workers, technicians, and administrators. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, client driven, highly individualized, effective, tested, research-based, and compassionate group of programs with an emphasis on the foundational skills that will assist clients on every level.
Clinical Based Treatment
In our experience, the outward presentation is merely a reflection and symptom set of something that exists within each individual. In order to successfully employ a solution set that will benefit our clients, we must begin to look at the myriad of internal and external factors upon which any particular disorder or challenge springs from. It is not enough, from our point of view, to focus on symptom eradication, as the foundation for healing is to be found underneath what the symptoms are pointing to. The basis for long-term, real, and sustainable change lies within the degree to which clients are given the opportunity to explore themselves and their inner worlds. In addition, we must be willing to comprehensively explore the various systems in which they operate and begin to understand their interrelationship with their communities. This infrastructure provides the bedrock upon which the healing with any particular challenges resides. Action's approach involves a multi-dimensional, integrated, and thorough examination of the highly individualized, context driven, medically informed, and systemic nature of the underlying causation of what brings people to us.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Action Family Counselings Intensive Outpatient treatment Program (IOP) usually follows Residential Treatment (RTC) for many clients, but can also serve as an entry point in the treatment process for those whose needs are less severe. Action has outpatient treatment centers located in Santa Clarita, Simi Valley, and Bakersfield in California. The delivery system for this level of care is group attendance 3 times per week as well as ongoing participation in community resource groups, 12-step attendance, individual and family therapy, and/or sober living. This level of care is designed to assist clients in meeting their familial, occupational, and social responsibilities while concurrently attending Intensive Outpatient treatment groups and participating in community resource groups and encounters aligned with their particular challenges. Each client in an Action outpatient treatment center is assigned a counselor who will assess each client's unique challenge set and individual path to chart a course of addiction treatment that will provide the opportunity for effective long-lasting change.
