Accredited Academics
At Acadiana, located in Sunset, Louisiana, we offer an accredited school program, Edgenuity, for school-age girls who are receiving residential treatment. Our education program is state-accredited and enables students to earn academic credits and keep up with their studies while receiving mental health and addiction treatment at our center. Middle school students can complete the same coursework they would in their schools at home, and high school students can work toward their GEDs or high school diplomas. School is held Monday-Friday in our on-campus family building, where youths can meet face to face with a teacher on a rotating schedule. Our teachers are certified and licensed by the state of Louisiana, and they are committed to helping our clients navigate academic learning while they receive mental healthcare. Our goal is to help students return to the appropriate level of education when they complete residential programming at our center. Therapeutic Support
Students in our education program receive academic instruction while they participate in therapeutic programming that can support their growth and healing. At Acadiana, residential programming can include weekly individual therapy with a primary therapist and a three-day family program typically held during the third week of treatment. Group therapy sessions are held three times per day and are led by a therapist. These sessions commonly cover topics like relapse prevention, family dynamics, and coping skills. In addition to counseling, a client can receive medication management services if medication is part of their treatment plan. These services include an initial consult with a psychiatrist and follow-up meetings with nurses and doctors. We also offer art therapy, motivational interviewing, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). By combining quality education and personalized mental health treatment, our programming can promote our clients’ success in many areas of their lives. Our Treatment Center
Our residential treatment center is located in Sunset, Louisiana, outside Lafayette. Known for its picturesque rural setting, Sunset offers a peaceful backdrop for young women who are participating in our residential program. At Acadiana, we believe that clients who have mental health concerns can benefit from educational support. Our goal is to provide our clients with educational opportunities that allow them to continue making academic progress while they receive the mental healthcare they need. Our clients receive treatment and education in a homelike setting that is different from a hospital setting. In this comfortable environment, clients can participate in therapies designed to help them learn skills that lead to happier, healthier lives.
