About
About WildwoodRecovery
A Wildwood Recovery is a family style, 12-Step, Social Model. The facility is nestled on the edge of the beautiful nature trails in Wildwood Park. Most of our staff are in recovery themselves, and have dedicated their lives to help people suffering from addiction. Our medical director Dr. Walter Thomas is a pioneer in the field of addiction medicine. He and his daughter Dr. Lucille Thomas head the clinical team at Wildwood. The focus of Wildwood's team is to treat the whole person, Physical (healthier body), Mind (positive, sobriety-centered thoughts), Emotion (the ability to self-regulate feelings), and Spirit (connecting to self, family, the recovery community, and Higher Power). Each client is nurtured through the recovery process. By the time the client is half-way through their treatment, our clinical staff will work with the client on a discharge plan including intensive out-patient programs and sober livings. We also schedule private family meetings to conclude the discharge plan. Extended treatment of 90 days or more ensures a better prognosis our clients. Wildwood offers a variety of treatment modalities, our clients will learn to live happy, productive lives.

Art Therapy
Art therapy offers an opportunity for clients to get in touch with their "inner-self." This modality offers clients that have difficulty expressing their feelings, a way to identify feelings that cannot be put into words. Through helping the person with an addiction connect with his/her more authentic self, the expressive therapies can help raise self-esteem and provide an opportunity to create new experiences beyond habitual and painful emotional patterns. The creative arts foster the ability to relax and have fun without the use of drugs or alcohol
